Botega also includes spell checking, using correlation to refine the result: “If someone spells ‘partner wrong and then later buys John Grishams latest book, The Partner, now we know what they meant. Other people do that now, but in 98, it was revolutionary. At the time, we were purchasing our search technology and the vendor didnt want to build spell check. ” Because its needs are unique in the retail space, the company has built its own supply chain, forecasting and demand planning software. Another focus is on making fulfillment centers hum: “We actually sell 5 billion of stuff to people in increments of 50. ” Amazon engineers ultimately reprogrammed the Crisplant sorter machine they use—designed primarily for UPS and luggage handling, not thousands of small orders—so that instead of batches or even overlapping batches, the sorter can handle a continuous flow of inventory. “The fulfillment centers are fascinating. When I joined in 1999, at Christmas they used to get swamped, and it was all hands on deck. Management would be working in the fulfillment centers, going through this process called picking: Pulling items off shelves and using a handheld scanner, ” Vermeulen said. The scanners are essentially X terminals running Unix shell—not exactly user friendly. “For the temporary workers in Kentucky, this was suboptimal. Weve since innovated to menu systems. But the funniest command was when workers would type e, which started emacs. We had to show them that you press Control X, then Control C to close emacs. ” Returning to the online portion of the business, Vermeulen defined the website as absolutely strategic—so much so that “the only way to keep up a site this fast and rich is to build the page-rendering system ourselves. Its now in place for about half our sites. ” All servers can be invoked asynchronously. For the component layer, the team uses Mason with some customizations. Amazon is well known as having mastered personalization technology, recommending items consumers might want to buy—but going beyond best sellers to suggest increasingly obscure items that match a users tastes and personal purchasing history. The approach is to combine slow-moving, or historical, data and combine it with fast-moving data, such as more recent activity. “Personalization is full of areas where its useful to be innovative. Otherwise, you end up recommending Harry Potter 5 to everybody, ” Vermeulen said. To arrive at such solutions, the team evaluates personalization algorithms against control and test groups. The area that may hold the greatest promise, Vermeulen opined, was Web services. Though attempts in 1999 to serve up XML and XSLT to render device-specific formats of Amazon Web pages did not really take off in the U. S., he said, but was popular in Japan. Nevertheless, “the Web services interface to the Amazon platform could be our business in the next five years. Were letting the outside world work on our platform. ” In a follow-up interview, Vermeulen explained that, contrary to popular belief, Amazon Web services are not all directed to the companys affiliate vendor program. “One of the apps I like is Grokker, by Groxis. It lets you visualize search results, using Amazon Web services to get back all results. Its an interesting, rich graphic—you get concentric circles with different categories represented and you click to go deeper. ” Another is a joint project with Microsoft for the next edition of Office, which will offer the Office research pane. Right-clicking on a phrase will present a list of search results from Amazon. If you find a book, for example, youll be able to select from the actions menu and have the complete bibliographic reference inserted into the document. Monsoon, a Portland, Ore. -based software firm, has built a system for booksellers looking to liquidate inventory, while sifts through blog streams in search of product references to determine the hottest products du jour. From a technical standpoint, Amazons approach is to “pay attention to the standards and use them where they make sense. ” For instance, Amazon offers both SOAP- and REST-based Web services. In other words, the simple object access protocol, most notably implemented by Visual Studio s “Web method” keyword, is one option for developers who download the SDK, but 85 percent of developers use the representational state transfer, or simple HTTP publishing, approach. What does the absence of demand for SOAP mean? Is the protocol doomed? “It tells me that the programming tools are not mature yet. Visual Studio is the most mature tool out there for dealing with Web services. Once you have a tool like that, you can do anything, ” Vermeulen said. The SDK currently comprises such methods as a seller engine, product search, access to customer reviews and wish lists, inventory and listing management, but the long-term goal, according to the chief technologist, formerly of Rogue Wave Software, is anything available on the website. What differentiates Amazons Web services SDK from that of its best-known dot-com brethren? “Its very hard to define the lines of Google, its very amorphous. But our search is very different, its an all-around product search, so theres a different end-game in mind. Botega looks at the downstream results of what youve done after your search. ” As for eBay, “the tool is more for sellers trying to use their marketplace. ” Jokingly, he added, “Ours is better. ” The company claims 50, 000 downloads of the SDK since July 2002, but isnt sure whos done what with it. “Weve deliberately kept it very open, ” Vermeulen said.

Also from the author: There's a couple characters in my comic, Paisley Brickstone, who are trans, although one of them is more a minor character so far (Haven, who shows up in the prolog, but won't show up in the main story until chapter 2) and the other hasn't shown up yet but is one of the more important characters (Pierce, who does show up in chapter 1 and who's journey is about learning to deal with anger, which flares up a lot around his twin brother, Fenmore, who has a lot of masculine insecurity but is not trans. There's also a nonbinary kid who's shown up in the Prolog, Quinn (who uses he and they pronouns. I haven't decided yet if any others are since I leave gender pretty ambiguous with a lot of the kids, but yeah. I'm avoiding self discovery stuff involving gender, and focusing on self discovery involving peeling away the insecurity most, if not all, teens go through during their time in school. I know this is a touchy topic, and the front page of reddit is very harsh on anybody who questions the validity of vaccines in any way. I love and believe in science, and my interest in this topic comes only from a place of genuine concern, and trying to earnestly figure out what would be the best thing to do for my future children. I grew up extremely pro-vaccines, but the internet has exposed me to some information that seems like an important part of the discussion. So I'm laying out some of the information I've seen, and the points they bring up. A lot of this information was collected from other reddit posts (including this great post and this one also) but I've added a few links of my own, and re-arranged some of the information to make it easier to digest. By re-posting it again here, I'm hoping we can start a conversation about these points. If anybody has any important points they want to include, comment and I'll edit it in. Mishongnovi and Shipaulovi are spoken on Second Mesa, though in different villages. Mishongnovi has fewer speakers than First or Third Mesa Hopi. A textbook was written by a native speaker in 1978 for Shipaulovi Hopi. There are other villages on the Mesa with unknown dialectal affiliations. According to Whorf, Mishongnovi is one of the more archaic dialects, however Third Mesa does retain some other features that have been lost in Mishongnovi Hopi. The Third Mesa dialect is, also predictable, spoken on Third Mesa. It is the dialect used most consistently throughout this write-up. Metalinguistics Hopi Time Controversy Benjamin Lee Whorf, a well-known linguist and to this day one of the foremost authorities on the relationships obtaining between southwestern and Central American languages, used the Hopi language to exemplify his argument that one's world-view is affected by one's language and vice versa. Among Whorf's best-known claims was that Hopi had "no words, grammatical forms, construction or expressions that refer directly to what we call "time. Whorf's statement has been misunderstood to mean that Hopi has no concept of duration or succession of time, but in fact he meant only that the Hopi have no conception of time as an object or substance that may be divided and subdivided. Furthermore, according to John A. Lucy, many of Whorf's critics have failed to read his writings accurately, preferring instead to proffer uncharitable caricatures of his arguments. The existence of temporal concepts in the Hopi language was extensively documented by Ekkehart Malotki, while other linguists and philosophers are skeptical of Whorf's broader argument and his findings on Hopi have been disputed or rejected by some. In the mid-1990s the implementation by the Hopi tribal organization of the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act caused further tension and discussion about Hopi communal ownership of their language. The Hopi tribe requested that all collections of data pertaining to Hopi cultural heritage be closed to the public, and free access to individuals be given only under written authorization of the Hopi tribal council. In 1997 Hill received a letter from Leigh J. Kuwanwisiwma, Director of the Hopi Tribe's Cultural Preservation Office expressing concerns that the dictionary project had not sought joint copyrights with the Hopi tribe, that the linguistic consultants who had contributed to the project had not given sufficiently informed consent to the free accessibility of information provided for non-Hopis, and finally that royalties should also be given to the CPO and the Hopi Health Department. He also found the list price of 85 excessive. He requested that the printing of the dictionary be held off until the issues had been addressed. While the dictionary had already been printed it was not yet cut and bound and the press suspended production. A meeting held between representatives of the Hopi community and the University of Arizona Press (UAP) raised the major concerns of some Hopis that the data in the dictionary would make the Hopi language accessible to non-Hopis. They felt that this constituted selling the Hopi language and thereby handing their cultural heritage out for grabs. Later on February 23, 1998, Tribe Chairman Wayne Taylor, Jr., proposed to Cox that copyrights be transferred to the Hopi Tribe and that the Hopi Tribe buy all the copies of the dictionary. After deliberation the University Press agreed to turn over copyrights and all remaining, unsold copies of the dictionary on January 1, 2008. The tribe would receive 500 copies at half price (although this would cause a loss of nearly 10, 000 to the press. This proposal was accepted by the Hopi tribal government. JUDY Judy Renée Zellweger si trasforma in Judy Garland in Judy, in sala con Notorious Pictures. Un film in parte drammatico e in parte spettacolare. Drammatico perché mostra le conseguenze dello showbiz su una donna che in quel mondo è entrata piccolissima ed è rimasta prigioniera di un sistema pieno di regole e molto complesso. Spettacolare perché mette in scena alcune performance eccezionali in cui la Renée Zellweger e Judy Garland si fondono effettivamente nella stessa persona. Judy Garland è stata attrice, cantante e ballerina, nota al grande pubblico soprattutto per linterpretazione di Dorothy ne Il mago di Oz. Una carriera brillante iniziata giovanissima e proseguita con grandi successi – da Incontriamoci a St. Louis a È nata una stella. Il film ci riporta al 1968 quando Judy Garland, ormai esausta e stremata, vive un momento molto delicato: piena di debiti, senza casa e con una voce provata dagli anni. Lunica cosa che le permette ancora di sorridere sono i suoi figli, Lorna e Joey. In Judy assistiamo allo sgretolarsi definitivo di una donna divenuta icona ma in realtà sensibile e fragile come tante altre, logorata dai troppi riflettori e dalle costrizioni del passato. Un vero incanto cinematografico! 2. IL DIRITTO DI OPPORSI Il diritto di opporsi Il diritto di opporsi, in sala con Warner Bros., è una storia di ingiustizia umana e giudiziaria. La storia vera dellavvocato Bryan Stevenson, diventato famoso per aver combattuto per la giustizia, la legalità, la possibilità di dimostrare la propria innocenza in un sistema giudiziario ostile, come quello che negli Stati Uniti prevede la pena di morte. Il diritto di opporsi è un film che assume le sembianze di unarma bianca per ricordare quante morte ingiustificate ci sono state perché è stato negato appunto il diritto di opporsi. Destin Daniel Cretton prosegue il suo sodalizio artistico con Brie Larson, che qui ha il ruolo di unavvocatessa locale, e racconta una battaglia contro il razzismo, il pregiudizio, la menzogna. Il Bryan Stevenson che vediamo mostrato nel film è un giovane afroamericano laureato in legge ad Harvard che senza troppi indugi sceglie di lavorare, perlopiù pro bono, per difendere i condannati a morte in Alabama, molti dei quali non hanno beneficiato di un regolare processo. E questi condannati sono accomunati tutti dallo stesso colore di pelle, il nero. Tra gli uomini che prova a difendere e rappresentare cè Walter McMillian che si trova nel braccio della morte per lomicidio di una 18enne bianca: un delitto al quale è completamente estraneo, ma per il quale bisognava trovare un colpevole in fretta, per “tranquillizzare la comunità”. 3. ODIO LESTATE Odio lestate Aldo, Giovanni e Giacomo sono tornati al cinema con Odio lestate. Sono tornati in ottima forma e finalmente hanno ritrovato la comicità che li ha resi popolari. Il film, diretto da Massimo Venier e distribuito da Medusa Film, racconta una storia di una nuova amicizia. Tre uomini decidono di trascorrere le vacanze estive in unisola a largo delle coste italiche, ognuno insieme alla rispettiva famiglia. Non si conoscono, scelgono la stessa meta estiva, la stessa spiaggia e si ritrovano anche ad affittare la stessa casa, purtroppo tutti nello stesso periodo. Aldo è un tamarro senza un lavoro fisso, ipocondriaco, con una passione smisurata per Massimo Ranieri. Giovanni è un uomo organizzato, preciso, gestisce unimpresa prossima al fallimento. Giacomo è un medico di successo che non riesce ad avere un rapporto con il figlioletto in piena pubertà. Abitudini diverse, due figli che si innamorano, tre mogli che partono col piede sbagliato, un film di equivoci, in un certo senso di “sopravvivenza” e di grandi sentimenti.

Siamo negli Stati Uniti del Sud, una zona dellAmerica che in più di unoccasione ha legato il proprio nome a questo tipo di episodi e che limmaginario collettivo ha più volte raccontato in questa chiave. La vicenda dellavvocato Bryan Stevenson, interpretato da un coriaceo Michael B. Jordan alle prese con un ruolo impegnato dopo Creed, è ritagliata sulle autentiche battaglie di questuomo di legge che per tutta la vita ha tentato di riscattare le sorti di quanti erano stati privati della libertà con processi sommari, spesso basati su perizie e testimonianze a dir poco discutibili (il vero Stevenson ha fondato lEqual Justice Initiative, organizzazione no-profit per lassistenza legale a chi è posto nel braccio della morte. Il diritto di opporsi, dal canto suo, ricalca la tradizione liberal di tanto cinema statunitense: talvolta il rischio, in questi casi, può essere quello di vedere tracimare la retorica incorporata oltre il livello di guardia, con un rincorrersi di semplificazioni meramente strappalacrime e a effetto. Uninsidia che però Il diritto di opporsi riesce a sorvolare affidandosi a una scrittura vibrante ma appassionante e misurata, a un tasso di idealismo necessario e legittimato dalloggetto del racconto: un sentimento immortalato tra luci e ombre, tra desideri di cambiare il mondo e flussi di potere e coercizione che passano sopra le teste di tutti, pronti in qualsiasi momento a calare la propria mannaia e spalancare il sentiero inesorabile e disumano verso la sedia elettrica. Il punto di partenza, che fa da puntello per il copione, è il libro memoriale dello stesso Stevenson, e l Alabama raccontata nel film è la stessa di un testo chiave, nellottica dei temi che Il diritto di opporsi affronta, come Il buio oltre la siepe della scrittrice Harper Lee (lomicidio di cui si parla oltretutto è avvenuto proprio a Monroeville, città in cui il romanzo è ambientato, come spesso si ripete nel film. Il protagonista, un po come lAdam Driver di The Report, è sprovvisto di una vita sentimentale e sessuale e dedica ogni anfratto del suo tempo, anche libero, alla missione designata della sua vita e alla sue pratiche di lavoro. Unattività che gli consente di dare alla sua indignazione, rappresentativa della comunità black e molto radicata nella sua infanzia, delle basi concrete e scientifiche, con un corredo di prove da setacciare con costanza indistruttibile. La misura delloperazione e della sua efficacia è però offerta dall intero cast, tutto in estrema forma, con uno sviluppo attento anche dei personaggi in apparenza secondari (procedimento di cui il cinema americano medio è spesso maestro) Brie Larson ha un piccolo ruolo nei panni della segreteria di Stevenson, nel quale risulta comunque dolce e credibile, ma a rubare la scena sono soprattutto Jamie Foxx, abilissimo nel restituire le smorfie di dolore e rassegnazione del suo personaggio, un lancinante Don Cheadle nelle vesti di un altro, anziano uomo di colore dal destino segnato, oltre che ancora assediato dai fantasmi del Vietnam, e Tim Blake Nelson, nei panni del testimone chiave del processo McMillian, che recita con bocca deforme e parlata schizofrenica e strascicata. Nessuna prova materiale e nessun processo equo. Solo una testimonianza farlocca strappata sotto ricatto. Perché, lunica colpa di Johnny D, dice Il Diritto di Opporsi, che ne racconta la vicenda, è essere nero sotto il cielo azzurro dellAlabama. E anche se siamo nel 1987, il profondo sud degli USA, sembra rimasto ancora aggrappato agli anni della segregazione razziale, quando linfamante scritta “for colored people” – esposta fuori i cinema, i bar, le scuole – rimarcava con disgusto il peccato più grande di cui si è macchiato lessere umano. Michael B. Jordan è Bryan Stevenson A difendere McMillian, in un viaggio lungo ed estenuante verso la libertà, lavvocato Bryan Stevenson, anchesso afroamericano, appena uscito da Harvard. E allora, la storia vera di Stevenson e di McMillian – interpretati rispettivamente da due bravissimi Michael B. Jordan e Jamie Foxx – viene raccontata con forza da Destin Daniel Cretton nel suo lungometraggio, tratto dal libro di memorie scritto dallo stesso Stevenson. Tuttoggi tra i più grandi avvocati americani, nonché attivista e fondatore dellEqual Justice Initiative, incentrata sul dare assistenza legale ai carcerati che potrebbero essere stati erroneamente (o frettolosamente) arrestati. Jordan e Jamie Foxx ne Il Diritto di Opporsi Così, attraverso un cinema classico e puro, il film di Cretton ci porta a riflettere se (e quanto) il sistema giudiziario sia affidabile e, soprattutto, oculato: McMillian – e molti insieme a lui – si ritrovano nel braccio della morte, rassegnato ad un percorso che non merita. Perché, in fondo, non cè giustizia senza speranza. Ed è un film di lotta, di resistenza politica e sociale Il Diritto di Opporsi, arrabbiato quanto basta, incisivo nel suo essere banco daccusa contro medievali ingiustizie subite da uomini innocenti. Poco più di due ore per una storia durata anni, segnando irrimediabilmente lanima dellaccusato. Messo dietro le sbarre solo perché “basta guardarlo in faccia”. Un grande Tim Blake Nelson ne Il Diritto di Opporsi Così, il capro espiatorio è pronto a salire sul Golgota, lo stomaco si stringe e limpotenza prende il sopravvento. Del resto, Il Diritto di Opporsi, ricorda quanto ancora oggi limponente ombra del sogno americano copra gli abusi e i soprusi giuridici. Sia verso i neri sia verso quelli nati con la sfortuna di essere poveri. Come Ralph Myers, con il volto di uno straordinario Tim Blake Nelson (e quanto avrebbe meritato la nomination agli Oscar …) luomo che inizialmente ha accusato (pur non avendolo mai visto) Johnny D. Ed è proprio lui lago della bilancia che sposta lorientamento di un caso che non dovrebbe esistere, né ieri né mai. Figuriamoci in un Paese che fa della libertà il suo slogan da milioni di dollari. Basato sulla vera storia raccontata da Stevenson nel libro "Just Mercy" Il diritto di opporsi è il resoconto di una battaglia contro l'ingiustizia e il razzismo nello Stato reso celebre da Harper Lee con il suo "Il buio oltre la siepe" l'odissea di un innocente accusato ingiustamente di un omicidio e difeso dal coraggioso avvocato Atticus Finch. Il regista Destin Daniel Cretton prosegue il suo sodalizio artistico con Brie Larson, che qui ha il ruolo di un'avvocatessa locale, per raccontare una storia di ingiustizia e pregiudizio che, come molti film di questo periodo, raffigura l'umiliazione rituale degli afroamericani partendo dal più comune degli abusi della polizia yankee: il fermo ingiustificato, spesso accompagnato da mortificanti perquisizioni. Stevenson entra volontariamente in un abisso di scorrettezza e discriminazione razziale perché sa cosa voglia dire nascere nero in America ed essere etichettato sulla base del colore della pelle. "Basta guardarlo in faccia" è infatti la motivazione data dalle autorità dell'Alabama per incarcerare un innocente, e l'accusa "lombrosiana" nasconde una paura profonda del diverso. Cretton ricostruisce la vicenda di Stevenson sposando interamente il suo punto di vista, e questo purtroppo rende il racconto meno efficace. Ma questa (ennesima) storia di ingiustizia a sfondo razziale è il ritratto di un'America che ancora oggi tollera disparità ingiustificabili. La vicenda narrata infatti non accade negli anni Cinquanta ma nei Novanta, eppure incontra le resistenze e ostruzionismo dell'epoca precedente alle battaglie per i diritti civili degli afroamericani. Nel mirino c'è anche la pena di morte, qui illustrata da una lunga sequenza che dà (giustamente) la misura di quale lucida spietatezza entri in gioco nell'esecuzione di un essere umano. In questo contesto la popolazione nera non concepisce la propria esistenza come vita ma come sopravvivenza, sempre minacciata dall'arbitrio dei bianchi. E le tattiche usate dalle autorità per fare della comunità afroamericana un capro espiatorio "naturale" fanno accapponare la pelle. Tuttavia una visione meno manichea della vicenda narrata avrebbe giovato alla narrazione, e reso più sfaccettato il ragionamento. Michael B. Jordan e Jamie Foxx sono al servizio di questa visione sbilanciata, ma restano convincenti nei rispettivi ruoli del coraggioso avvocato e di McMillian. Il film è sceneggiato e diretto da Daniel Cretton ed è tratto dal libro del 2014 "Just Mercy: a story of justice and redemption" scritto dall'avvocato e attivista per i diritti sociali Bryan Stevenson. Walter MacMillan, che nel film ha il volto di Jamie Foxx ( Django Unchained) era stato condannato a morte per l'omicidio di una ragazza di 18 anni bianca sulla base di testimonianze ottenute con la violenza da parte della polizia. L'avvocato Stevenson, interpretato da Michael B. Jordan ( Black Panther e Creed) non crede alla sua colpevolezza e decide di difenderlo nonostante il suo stesso assistito, oramai già nel braccio della morte e in attesa dell'esecuzione della sentenza, abbia perso ogni speranza. Il film segue la storia del legale alle prime armi, neo laureato Harvard e quindi con una carriera brillante ed estremamente remunerativa davanti, che sceglie invece di difendere le persone condannate ingiustamente. Stevenson viene aiutato nella sua missione da una collega, Eva, interpretata da Brie Larson ( Captain Marvel) e proprio con il caso McMillan ha il suo battesimo del fuoco. Una battaglia complicata dai pregiudizi razziali intorno al condannato reo di essere stato visto in giro con una donna bianca e avere un figlio sposato con una donna bianca in uno Stato, l'Alabama, dove i pregiudizi razziali sono ancora molto radicati. Come fanno gli americani i legal drama non li fa nessuno, basta non pensare che spesso sono film che semplicemente romanzano avvenimenti realmente accaduti. Il resto lo fa un cast azzeccato dove insieme al trio di star troviamo Rob Morgan, noto per il suo ruolo di Turk Barrett nelle serie di supereroi Marvel realizzate da Netflix, l'attore inglese Rafe Spall e Tim Blake Nelson che i più attenti ricorderanno in La ballata di Buster Scruggs dei fratelli Coen. È interessante che il regista Cretton abbia lavorato anche nei suoi due precedenti film con Brie Larson ( Short Term 12 e Il castello di vetro. L'avvocato Bryan Stevenson è il fondatore dell'organizzazione no-profit, Equal Justice Initiative, e nella sua lunga carriera ha assistito decine di persone in galera in attesa dell'esecuzione della condanna a morte. Il Diritto di Opporsi, in un certo senso, è un film diviso in due tra linterno e lesterno della prigione. It's not always the easiest watch, but with enormous passion, it provides memorable and compelling drama throughout.
From Destin Daniel Cretton (director of the extraordinary Short Term 12) Just Mercy is filled to the brim with the same emotional passion and frank human drama that the director has delivered so spectacularly in the past. This film may not be quite as affecting as Short Term 12, but it's the frank nature of the drama that really hits home here.
The movie gets off to a slow start, characterised by what is often frustratingly one-dimensional drama over the course of the first hour. Just Mercy is not the great character drama that Short Term 12 is, and with its more engaging legal themes, it never really hits a sweet spot between character drama and legal drama.
However, the film really comes into its own in the latter half, as the tone takes a significant shift to powerful dramatic gravitas, showcasing an overwhelming and devastating perspective on true injustice, as we see the draconian and inhumane sentences imposed on those convicted without due legal process.
In tandem with that tonal shift, the screenplay also begins to place its eggs firmly in the basket of legal drama. The rather one-note character drama of the earlier stages takes a back seat for what turns out to be the better of the story and the film's core message, as a gripping legal story opens up the door for the film's scathing indictment on institutional racism, corruption and oppression.
Cretton delivers that message in powerful fashion throughout, and his passionate direction makes it a topic that really gets under your skin throughout, bringing home the devastating and almost inescapable reality of a system that works against people from the moment they're born, with no respite for the innocent.
The film is also particularly striking in the way it presents its time period. The story is set in the late 1980s-early 1990s, but Cretton ingeniously makes little noise about that, instead telling the story in a style that makes it seem entirely like the most violent years of the 1960s, or even the 19th Century at moments.
It's a subtle and clever way of further driving home the message that this kind of injustice persists right up to this day, and every time when you remember that you're watching a true story that happened as recently as the 1990s, it's really quite shocking to think about.
Just Mercy is undoubtedly at its strongest in its heaviest moments, and with a captivating and impassioned lead performance from Michael B. Jordan, those moments are not without immense emotional power. There are times when the film can stray into slightly cheesy territory - although only very briefly - and there are also moments in the first act that pale in comparison to what the film becomes later on.
Overall, however, there's no denying that Just Mercy is a deeply powerful drama that overcomes a mixed start to deliver an affecting and infuriating story, riveting legal drama and an impassioned and scathing attack on the horrors of a corrupt institution that still exists today.

When I first watched the film, I thought the pacing was way too quick for me to actually understand what was going on. Although I will say that the fire fighter scenes were pretty intense regardless if they were only training or had to attend buildings that were on fire due to fireworks.
I understood this films backdrop involving the feeling of losing someone through drowning and honestly the ending was a near hard hitter for me. However I would have liked if the couples experience together was more in depth because as I said yet again, it was rather rushed. It didn't give much in depth either with the other guy who had a crush on her or if he was going for someone else. Since I'm not gonna say spoilers to telling you who's who, it's best to watch the film.
Animation wise, it was pretty alright. Not amazeballs but it was easy on the eyes at least.
As much as the film did offer a bit of emotion, it's not the ultimate worse or disappointment I've ever seen. However room for improvement is what it definitely definitely needs in terms of story pace development.

So nice <3. I love their version of this song, it feels like they're really inlove with each other. The sky's a deeper unknown world than the sea Luffy: say sike right now. Time travel is my most favorite type of genre. the longing, feelings of emptiness and the tearjerk fest is inevitable.

Pero ¿Por qué decimos esto? Para empezar la cinta tiene una trama interesante, teniendo un inicio regular que poco a poco se va transformando y llenándonos de elementos que la llenan de suspenso y que juega un poco con las predicciones que e espectador se pueda estar haciendo en la cabeza, además de complementar muy bien cada detalle que el filme te muestra y que en un principio pareciese insignificante, aprovechando muy bien cada recurso que tiene. Además de tener unas actuaciones grandiosas que cuando la trama lo requiere te mantienen dentro de una atmosfera de desesperación, locura y miedo, a la vez que esas mismas actuaciones logran hacer en algunas escenas que el alivio cómico se sienta muy natural y acorde a la construcción que tienen los personajes. Otro aspecto positivo de la cinta es el espectacular uso de locaciones que pese a que se presenta un lugar muy limitado como una pequeña cabaña y varios cuartos, a lo largo de la película, este minúsculo espacio es muy bien aprovechado viendo diferentes sucesos ocurridos en cada una de las habitaciones de esta cabaña, sin omitir alguna y dejándonos conocer cada esquina de esta casa, además de que en instantes se utiliza muy bien el mal clima como recurso para que inconsciente se amplié los escenarios que estamos viendo  y parezca que no todo lo que vemos es solo una locación, sino que todo una montaña llena de nieve. En conclusión, La Cabaña Siniestra es una buena cinta que sabe muy bien como jugar con los plot twist y hacer que el espectador se mantenga atento a lo que está pasando y se empiece a cuestionar que pasara a la siguiente escena. Ahuitz Maldonado Soy solo un cinéfilo más, amante de las buenas series y anime; el único spoiler que te daré es que al final no importa la película, todos acabaremos en el cine con un bote de palomitas y unos nachos a un lado Continue Reading.

Esta cinta, que cuenta con las actuaciones de  Riley Keough,  Jaeden Lieberher,  Richard Armitage, Lia McHugh y  Alicia Silverstone, tuvo su premier mundial el pasado 25 de enero dentro del Festival de Cine de Sundance 2019, evento en el que fue adquirida por la compañía Neon para su distribución en Estados Unidos el 7 de febrero del 2020. Aquí en México la esperamos antes, el 6 de diciembre. La historia en este filme sigue a Aidan (Lieberher) y Mia (McHugh) dos hermanos que están molestos con Grace (Keough) la joven mujer con la que el papá de ambos está planeando casarse después de separarse de su esposa. Devotos a su madre, Aidan y Mia rechazan los intentos de Grace por acercarse a ellos mientras buscan algo turbio en el pasado de ella.
